Happy Hour 01/09: The Best News Ypsilanti's Ever Received

After last night's national championship game, in which Florida crushed the Buckeyes and heard the lamentations of their women, it's difficult to imagine that anyone would take issue with the Gators being the undisputed #1 team in the country.

Well, except for that dip$#!+ who gave his vote to Boise State. Someone always has to be the contrarian. Look, Greg Archuleta of the Albuquerque Journal, the Broncos' victory over Oklahoma was impressive. Before last night, it's all any college football fan was talking about. And yes, they finished their season undefeated. I'm all for making a statement. But hey, this is the system we're stuck with until at least 2010, Norma Rae.

Anyway, the people over at The Serious Tip applied some fuzzy math (which I understand about as well as regular math) to the BCS standings, and shook it all about. After looking at the various contenders and their most significant losses, the bouncing ball can be followed all the way down to... Eastern Michigan?

Say what? Well, see - the Eagles beat Toledo. It was the only game they won the entire season, but don't think about that. Think about the teams that Toledo beat. Yet the Rockets went down to old EMU. Ergo (and man, I've always wanted to use that in a blog post), they're really the best team in the country.

So hats off to you, Eastern Eagles! You're the best and you didn't even know it. Maybe the athletic department can use this fuzzy math to try and get some people to Rynearson Stadium next fall. Otherwise, it's a nice, quiet place to study during mid-terms.

I don't have a problem with the guy voting for Boise State as the #1 team in the country. Most likely he doesn't think that the Broncos are the best team in the country, but rather he is making a statement. Until the BCS begins using a playoff system, this voter will vote the team with the best record as the #1 team. And if the BCS has a problem with that, than they should change the way they run their system.

Good to see the cheer for Eastern Michigan's National Championship being carried on with such vigor. In other words, thanks for linking to me. I appreciate it.

And it seems someone likes nude Japanese women.
